Wii Fitness Games

The active-play phenomenon started by Wii Sports now spreads to your whole body thanks to Wii Fit Plus and the pressure-sensitive Wii Balance Board, which comes bundled with it. Used together players will experience an extensive array of fun, dynamic and surprisingly challenging activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and balance oriented games. The focus of these activities is towards providing a "core" workout, a popular exercise method that emphasizes slower, controlled motions, but it's the fun approach to fitness of Wii Fit Plus that will keep players hooked on fitness for years to come.

While the Wii Fit Plus offers several different exercises eventually most people will want to try something new. There are several different games you can purchase which use the balance board. Some of the more popular titles that include:

  • Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout - This exercise game is a workout built all around boxing. You'll find different boxing sessions available. There's shape boxing, boxing examination and exercise mode. In shape boxing you'll be doing some rhythm boxing. There are six lessons available in this section and there are varying degrees of difficulty. In the next level, examination boxing, it's a series of boxing tests. And in exercise mode you'll find games that are different from the other boxing lessons but still require punching, dodging and rhythm to get through them.

  • EA Sports Active - Takes a holistic approach to fitness. A strong selling point for this program is the fact that it takes nutrition and lifestyle factors and combines that with different activities. And the best thing is you don't ever have to leave the comfort of your home. You'll find customized routines as well as a 30 day challenge and you can even slip the nunchuk into a leg band and use that in conjunction with the Wii remote to track movement of both your lower and upper body.

  • Fitness Ultimatum by Jillian Michaels- This exercise game provides you with a boot camp feeling. You'll run around the boot camp to get from one exercise to the next. You'll find yourself in a canoe paddling down a river, throwing grenades filled with paint, tire runs and several others. You'll also get to pick your workout based on your goals. You can choose from hill climb modes, weight loss, intervals or strength training.
